The Evolution of Fashion Design and Why Fashion Is My Passion

Fashion Design is a field that has a huge impact on people’s look. In fact, it proposes a lot of styles that we can choose from, which makes it very interesting. The more we know about it the more we can become passionate of it. Fashion Design adds beauty to utility and may offer different trends in different places. For instance, the same product may be designed differently in America than it is in Europe, in Africa or elsewhere. Also, it is important to point out that Fashion Design has significantly changed throughout the time. Therefore, it is fair to say clothing décor, manners and morals varied from year to year, country to country and class to class. Besides, our goal here, as we go further, is to reveal or remind parts of the evolution of Fashion Design and indicate why fashion is our passion.

Looking back in the time, it is clear that Fashion Design has evolved considerably. In the seventeenth century, the designs were the products of the dress worn in the royal courts. The curvaceous S-bend silhouette dominated fashion up until around 1908. At that time women were more feminine and modest in their clothing styles. Women’s fashionable clothing began with a straight regency silhouette, bloomed into exaggerated skirts and sleeves, moved to small shoulders and even wider skirts supported by crinolines or hoops and narrowed by way of the bustle to hobble skirts. Also, the costumes were astonishing design such as, the S-Bend corsets that was very tightly laced at the waist and forced the hips back up to create the S-shape. In other words, women used to dress more reserved than today. Men’s fashionable clothing was perhaps the least volatile, but there was still an enormous difference between the wasp waist and frock coats of the 1830’s. For instance, the outfits were tight vest and a large cravat and its ends laced, with loose slashed sleeves, shorts, and full stocking hose that draped over the garter. Hence, clothes for both sexes were decorated with laces, ribbons embroidery, artificial flowers, quilting and jewels. The hairstyles were extremely extravagant; the shoes were shapes extremely tight on the side. In the 19th century, Frederick Charles was the first fashion designer who put up a fashion house in Paris. He was a great designer. His designs were extravagant costumes design but not inflated as the 17th century. His designs were stunning and influenced people. As a matter of fact, his designs were labeled as the design of House of Worth, the “Father of haute couture”. Frederick design inspired many other designers, and his success led to the dominance of Paris. They followed his footsteps. For example, some designers like Paul poi Ret, Vionnet, Fortuny, Lavin, and Chanel blended the classic styles consisting of visual dressing with Paris fashion. Throughout the 20th century, almost all high fashion originated in Paris and London. At that time, fashion magazines from other countries sent editors to the Paris fashion show to get ideas. The department stores used to send buyers to the Paris show to purchase garments, to copy, and to create their own fashion lines. Around that time fashion magazines began to include photographs. Hence, Paris stayed as the world’s fashion center throughout the 20th century.

With the Second World War many radical changes occurred in the fashion industry. Women had become elegant, simple and classic in clothing styles. Soon after, the American designers had been involved. For example, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Donna Karen became popular, and they were some of the most influential fashion designers in America. They brought a personal and feminine approach to severe sober-colored, casual look ready to wear. Women have greatly appreciated the understated luxury of their clothes. Their designs created simple well cut garments. Both men and women clothes have become chic, simple, and elegant. Since then fashion history takes another extent in people’s lifestyles. Especially with the creation of their first sportswear’s line, American designers made fashion styles as a statement. In the 1990s, when Rap music was very popular on the street, Vivienne Westwood came up with the street fashion styles by creating a hip hop lines sport label such as, huge baggy jeans, big patterns shirts, and heavy black shoes. Fashion has evolved extremely. Designers started to adopt more colorful fabrics, feminine excessive and anti-modern look. Name brands became particularly important among young people. Many celebrities launched their own lines clothing, and designers found themselves in a big competition because everyone wants to be over the top. In fact, with special media, such as TV shows, including the Fashion Designers Weeks, the Grammy Awards; Internet; newspapers; and magazines, Fashion Design influence became very powerful in the cities throughout the world.

I consider Fashion Design a passion ever since I was a child. I grew up with my dad, who was a tailor, and we were often designing clothes together. Sometimes I spent most of my time sewing dolls clothes by hands for kids in my neighborhood. Since my dream was to become a fashion designer, when I came in to America, the very first thing that I asked my dad was, “Where are the Fashion Design schools located?” At that time I was living in New York, which is where many of the fashion industries are. I finally went to school in 2001, and I graduated in 2004. My passion for fashion is vast. My dream is to open my own fashion business in five years from now. This is one of the reasons why I am in the management program to get the business skills and to work as a health care manager as well. I see fashion the same way I see life. It involves commitment, hard work and making people happy. Doing my blog on Fashion Design means so much to me. It will allow people to know why fashion is one of my passions. Also, they will get to see my clothing lines.

Fashion Design is very dominant in America. It plays, in People’s every day lives now, a role that is definitely more important than in the previous decades. The history of Fashion Design and how people used to dress back in the old times remain very exciting. We have seen different lifestyles throughout the world during fashion evolution. The designer’s innovations in their styles are inspiring people to love fashion more than ever before. In fact, the accessories, such as bags, shoes and hairstyle promote the beauty of Fashion Design. I ought to say, fashion is really a passion to me, and doing my topic on Fashion Design means a lot me. It is like a dream come true because I have been thinking a long time about how I can make people know my designs. Fashion Design is about beauty, art and history.

All about Green for the summer

Dressing green no longer means looking like a hessian sack-clad hippie, writes Rachel Wells.

It wasn't so long ago that making a commitment to eco-friendly fashion meant spending the rest of your days cocooned in an itchy hemp kaftan - of course, you could always slip on a sack-like tee and drawstring shorts just to spice things up a bit.

These days, however, a growing band of designers are whipping up clothes that are not only environmentally conscious but style-conscious, too.

History of fashion

Fashion reflects not only social history and the needs of women, but also the overall cultural aesthetic of the various periods. Fashion has evolved in the past hundred years just as it has over time--as our culture and attitudes changes, fashion comes along with it. It is hence required to understand the evolution of fashion and some of the factors that played a role in its development.

Why It is all about Fashion these days

Nowadays, people get very sophisticated and more classic when it comes to fashion, especially with all the TV shows, such as “What not to wear”, “The look for less”, “Fashion police”, “Project Runway and “How do I look”. I enjoy watching them because they help me create my own styles and allow me to see the fashion trend and the updates of new styles. In addition, I learn where to shop without spending a lot of money to look chic. Therefore, my portfolio is about great pictures, trend, styles and the variation of fashion design. Hence, each of them has a meaning. If you like fashion, you will definitely fall in love with my portfolio every time you visit my blog page.
